Fourth Annual RI Games & Events Big Meal Potluck

  • Nov 15, 2012 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This is the time of year to give thanks not only of what you have, but of the people you have in your life. And what better way than over great food and excellent conversation. Do you have a great recipe that will feed 10-20? Please make a batch and bring it on over. And in return, you can experience the food of others. The RSVP limit will be upped to 24 for this event over the usual 12, as we're not planning on playing any games that night (although who knows if Catch Phrase will get pulled out). It would be appreciated if we do have a higher than 12 RSVP count that some people bring chairs (I think I max out at seating for 14). Also, if it does get to 24 people, I might still up the RSVP limit, it will just be a slightly spread out night. When you RSVP, please try to indicate what you might bring or make, or email me as soon as you think of it so that we don't have multiples of the same things.

So if you made some new friends by being part of this group, please come join us in celebrating those new friendships and connections.

Lots of good food at this pre-Thanksgiving gathering. Then there was Elvis, Johnny Depp, Bugs Bunny, Chicago, and the Hose...you know who you are.

With one day left, I just wanted to post some reminders:

    - Bring chairs if you are able, we just need about half a dozen or so more, although it's possible we'll be fine. If you bring one for yourself, we'll be covered.
    - For those that don't have my address, I'll be sending it tonight, so if you see nothing in your email int he morning, first check your spam folder, then email me directly if it's not there.
    - If you do plan on getting here before 7:00, please let me know so I expect you.
    - Keep parking in mind (which is all along my street). Depending on when you arrive, you might have a short walk either up the hill or down the hill...
    - Bring your appetite.
    - And, finally, enjoy yourselves :-)

    See you all Thursday night.

If anyone can think of something we are missing, I will be glad to bring it. Otherwise, I am playing it by ear if that is okay.

    November 13, 2012

    • Phae

Hey Peggy, I'm thinking a salad + salad dressing would be nice, so would a bottle of red wine. As far as I know, nobody said they were bringing either one of them. I think we might have enough desserts but whatever you bring will be welcome of course.

Just 2 days left! Some of you still haven't posted in the comments what you think you'll be bringing so everyone can see it (not just me). I feel it would be helpful to know who's planning on bringing what.

    November 13, 2012

  • Phae

Seems a lot of people are bringing dessert so I'll bring an entree of some sort.

    November 5, 2012

    • Phae

At the moment my entree will be pasta with pesto; if I have time, I'll also make a dessert but no promises on that.

      November 8, 2012

  • Nidal

One week left! FYI, I'm actually not working the day of the Potluck, so if anyone wants to stop by earlier than 7:00, you're more than welcome to, just let me know via email or text. Note that I will likely have my full size oven and my toaster over in use, but I have a convection oven/microwave that can be used if anyone needs it. But best not to count on it if you can. Ovens will likely be free once the Potluck starts.

Franks $100 sliders and super sex on the beach.

    November 5, 2012

    • Nidal

Would the mediocre sex on the beach cost any less?

      November 5, 2012

  • Nidal

With a little less than 2 weeks left before the potluck, I'd like to ask everyone to post in the comments section what you're thinking of bringing so everyone else can get a sense of what they could bring. Remember that it doesn't absolutely need to be food/drink (although that's preferred), and it doesn't need to be homemade. Soda and/or drinks would be good, too.

    • Raff

      Do you need any chocolate?

      1 · November 5, 2012

    • Nidal

There's a Lindt Chocolate store in Seekonk you can pick up some from. I know a guy who knows a guy who works there, maybe they can get you a deal.

I believe the link above takes you to the discussion thread for last year's dinner. Haven't decided on what dish I'll be whipping up yet, but I do have two folding chairs I can bring, if needed.

    October 19, 2012

    • Nidal

Oops, forgot that link was still in there when I copied it from last year, I'll fix it shortly. Right now, comments seem to be the better way for a "discussion" instead of in a separate thread.

  • Phae

    Oh Katie, you're the best!

    1 · October 18, 2012

  • Katie

I'll definitely be bringing my famous autumn sangria! Cups & a bag of ice too. As for food, i'll say baked mac & cheese for now....but that might change

    1 · October 17, 2012

  • Nidal

A bag of ice and drinks are definitely things we'll need for the night, so please let us know if that's something you'll be bringing.

    October 17, 2012

  • Nidal

I'll likely have a couple of chickens made for the evening, probably a couple of sides to go with them.
