Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none. -Thomas Jefferson
The actions of the Neo-Conservative leadership in the US and Israel have instigated a military conflict that can easily escalate into a direct military conflict between the United States and Russia. Over the past 6 years, the US and Israel have been providing aid and assistance to the former Russian state of Georgia and holding military exercises on the Russian border against the will of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Ostensibly, the US has been training, preparing and arming the Georgian army to fight in the “War on Terror” in Iraq. Once prepared and armed, however, the US and Israeli trained and armed Georgian forces launched an offense counter to Russia in Ossetia. This land is essential to the completion of the oil pipeline construction in the region. The oil pipeline project is being led by a conglomeration of multi-national oil companies.
As a result of the attack by Georgia, the Russians retaliated and nearly 2000 are dead. Among the dead are believed to be numerous Americans that were imbedded with the Georgians who were either US troops currently deployed in Georgia or US mercenaries.
Both President Bush and John McCain issued statements denouncing Russia’s counter offensive. The Russians Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, confronted the statements and stated that "Bush's speech said nothing of how Georgia was armed all these years, including by the United States," he said, adding, "We have more than once warned our partners that this is a dangerous game."
Today, both the Russians and the United States under directive by President Bush are sending more US troops to Georgia. The US troops are being sent on a “peace keeping mission.” Likely these additional US Troops are going to be caught in the middle of a firefight between the Georgians and Russians. Colonel Sam Gardiner, US Air Force retired states in the video below that the Russians are also moving in tactical nuclear weapons into the zone. He states that the Russians have recognized that they can not effectively resist the US pinpoint capability arsenal. To counter, the Russians have a standing resolution to use tactical nuclear weapons if they are being defeated in a battle.
If this scenario occurs, this situation has the ability to quickly escalate into a full blown war with Russia, China, Iran and Afghanistan on one side and the US and allies on the other. This will be a war that will be a direct result of the Neo Conservative - CFR led interventionist policy.
On a side note, this whole situation is the same story of lobbyist, oil and the Neo Conservatives. Yahoo News reported that the Georgian government hired the firm headed by McCain’s top Foreign Policy advisor and provided nearly $1 million for representation. http://news.yahoo.com...
Where do you think this 1 million went? How much was provided to McCain’s Campaign? How much was provided to the RNC, then be provided to McCain’s Campaign?
Commonly, US Senators are lobbied to vote for hundreds of millions of dollars of aid to foreign governments. These funds once approved are paid either directly paid to the foreign government or apportioned in indirectly in a military budget. Once the military receives it they expense the money out to a foreign government. Keep in mind that Rumsfeld reported $2.3 Trillion Dollars was missing form the Pentagon http://www.youtube.co... and a total of $3.3 Trillion Missing From U.S. Treasury http://www.rense.com/...
So here we are once again. The media is beating the war drum to whip America up into a war frenzy. Next week we will hear on Fox that America was in Georgia to help the poor refugees and got fired upon. We shot back and now we are in a battle. This whole thing stinks.
This administration is once again using millions of dollars of taxpayer money to support a regime on the other side of the world. Our Congressmen are not going to do the right thing, the news is not telling us the truth and our brave soldiers are going to be sacrificed.
Our financial support and military presence in Georgia is clearly working on behalf of private corporate interest. None of which is in our national security interest and will provide no real benefit to the safety of Americans. These actions will cause more problems that result in an escalation of military engagements. Americans will pay the price with the loss of the lives of more soldiers and the financial cost will weigh on the US Taxpayers. We will suffer the unintended consequences of these actions as we unwittingly become the target of some radicalized element that emerges from this conflict: an element that harbors deep resentment for our taking the sides with their enemy in a land far away from home.
This is all the more reason why we must abandon the aggressive interventionist foreign policy, get our troops home, secure our borders and let the Russians and Georgians solve their own problems and heed the foreign policy advice of George Washington. http://republican.mee...
