Wooden Churches at Russian Bookshop, Waterstones Piccadilly
Following the success of Richard Davis' self-published book Wooden
Churches: Travelling in the Russian North we have created the event that will accommodate the debate around the "nearing the end of their days" wooden churches as a metaphor of a
fragility of the spiritual presence set in opposition to the notion of "rich and powerful
Russia". Richard Davies will be joined by filmmaker and journalist Albina Kovaleva, and
photographer and researcher Feodor Toshchev, who will present their work and talk
about their projects and journeys through the Russian North. The evening will finish with
Q&A. Tickets are £3 with Waterstones card, and £5 without. The price includes a glass of
vine. You can reserve your tickets
over the phone[masked],
via email [masked]
or [masked] and pay for them on a day of the event. We are
expecting the event to be very popular, so early booking is advisable.
The evening will take place at Piccadilly Waterstones Lower Ground Reception, 6pm till
9pm on Thursday, May 23. Language of the event is English.
