Oracle Automatic SQL Tuning Features

The focus of the next meet-up will be Oracle’s automatic SQL tuning features. The following tools will be covered:

  • Automatic SQL Tuning
  • SQL Tuning Advisor
  • SQL Tuning Sets
  • SQL profiles
  • SQL Plan Management (plan baselines)

First we’ll discuss each of the prior options and how they interoperate. Then you’ll learn how to enable and leverage each of these tuning tools through a hands-on lab. You will use SQL and standard PL/SQL packages to work with and manage these features.

Very worthwhile and informative! Taking the time to attend these really pays off. Darl does a great job presenting the material, and it's nice to be able to meet with other professionals who may be facing the same technical issues as you.

Darl is a wonderful presenter, and very attentive to questions. This place was great starting
place to get a feel for command line Automatic Tuning. Darl, Thanks for sharing the slides and lab with us so we could use and try them in our workplace.

Darl's presentation was great, detailed and organized. The information was very helpful. Thanks for the eats, too. The only blot was the limitations of the lab but it is understandable given the cost of the class.

Excellant presentation. The positive logistics: comfortable room, great snacks and drinks, good audio, and price was excellant. The negative logistics: Large pillar prevented me from seeing the slide deck, however I could follow once I got the url to view it. Also, the user ids were not setup completed, and impacted the ability to do a lab. Darl was very flexible and made the lab part of the presentation.

Overall - It was EXCELLANT! Great job Darl.

AWR and ADDM require Diagnostic Pack. Automatic SQL Tuning and SQL Tuning Advisor require Tuning Pack. SQL profiles require Enterprise Edition and Tuning Pack. SQL Plan Management requires Enterprise Edition but no extra license.

Darl, are all of these included with a standard or enterprise Oracle license?
    Automatic SQL Tuning
    SQL Tuning Advisor
    SQL Tuning Sets
    SQL profiles
    SQL Plan Management (plan baselines)

Or do you have to purchase these tools separately?
