I can't go - but just a reminder that there is a great huge sale going on now:

up to 80% off at the Giants Stadium skill&snowboard sale this week Wed 12/9 - Sat 12/12

Thank you ladyshae for posting a discussion on our site- please feel free to use the board any time guys & let us know if you are going to this sale and what great things you got on this discussion.

For those new or returning to the sport some tips on shopping & I'll add to discussion so others can expand on:

1. Equipment - if you are new I recommend renting at the mountain so if there are problems you can get it fixed. If you have done before but still new or its been a while - try renting for the season at a local shop - only if you know your schedule (and finances) and can definitely go enough days to break even.

2. Clothing - is NOT optional, hehe - we'll maybe it is in the spring months - but right now it's important for your snow pleasure to wear proper clothing - water resistant or proof - and breathable is important. NO COTTON - it is rotten.

- socks : high, thin wicking material
- long johns : wicking material again - not cotton.
- Jacket & pants : something that will keep you dry & stop the wind. I love jackets with pit zips, pockets and not white in color.
- hat : something that won't blow off your head
- neck gator : don't recommend scarves as they can catch on chair lifts
- goggles : very important to cover & protect your eyes from elements (wind & sun) - though some people prefer sun glasses, I find I need something more on really chilly/ windy days
- sun block
- Layers : various layers of fleece shirts, vests, extra long johns
- gloves and mittens and liners : your preference & price - but important as a beginner to get something that won't stay wet after you have pushed yourself up off the ground!

OK - what have I forgotten?....
