Camera Mart Demo Days

UPDATE:

CONTEST to win Camera Mart Gift Cards to be spent at Demo Days:

Upload your ONE favorite photo taken this year in this gallery: http://www.meetup.com/RODPhoto/photos/18234182/

Deadline to upload photo is Friday November 8.

After that, we will all vote on the photos. Whomever gets the most votes wins a card. I have THREE cares to give away this year, so the top THREE photos will win.

To vote, simply comment on the photo. Only one vote per person per photograph will be counted. (in other words, you can comment as many times as you like on each photo, but it will only be counted as one vote PER photo. You can vote on as many different photos as you like - each will be counted as one vote).

If you have already uploaded more than ONE photo, please pick your favorite, and delete the others. Please do this by Friday - I will make the choice after that if you haven't yet.

I was not impressed by camera mart, they did not have enough staff. know one knew lighting and they did not help me with soft boxes. there was another girl looking for Canon lens it took them 10mins to find the lens, which was in the basement or somewhere. They did not had the lenses prepared for purchase. Pro Camera were little bit more organized

There was, IMHO, plenty of staff Saturday.

Hey Vessela, it is their absolute busiest day of the year. I'm sorry you were disappointed :(

For most of the accessories, their prices were 20-50% higher than Amazon, bhphoto, adorama. I asked them to match price for one of the gorilla tripods I was interested and they brought down the price but was still 20% (in this case 10$) more than Amazon.. I wonder in such a competitive and transparent market how can they do that... I heard one of the reps telling a customer that today is a bad day for him to come and shop around if he is not sure what he is looking, which was very unprofessional. I think you need to know someone to get their attention and service.

The person at the table who took my camera for sensor cleaning told me 1 hour for the sensor cleaning and it took them 3.5 hours... If i had known that i would have left and done something useful.

Overall, I was disappointed as well :( I haven't checked my camera yet but hope the cleaning was done well.

Is not uncommon to take 1-4hrs to clean camera sensors at such events......FREE! I have mine cleaned twice a year. So I didn't have any bad comments on this issue.

Ricky, you can't compare a brick and mortar to a web store. Their costs alone are incredibly different. As for what the rep said, I'll say this: I have gone to this event every time since 2010, and every time I've gone, I've used those reps to the nth degree to find out about the differences between products. As for the FREE sensor cleaning you got, I would say - I have never once waited for my camera. I drop it and leave. I've gotten my camera cleaned twice a year for free - and I am INCREDIBLY grateful that this FREE service is offered. But I do promise you that they do a great job at that. I hope that you were able to spend your free $20 gift card that CM gave you as well, I'd be interested to hear what you picked up. Amy

today was packed. I was 16th on line(33rd camera) got out of there at 12:15. Cleaning started late and there were about 100something cameras, which reps said won't finish today. So if you are planning on going tomorrow for cleaning make sure you are first in line.

For those getting your camera cleaned, make sure you check it out before leaving.

Last time, one of my bodies was in worse shape afterward. Grit had been blown around into the viewfinder. Make sure you look so it can be fixed before departure:).

Ebb and flow while I was there around 1:30-2:45. Nice that the Canon rep was pretty much left alone, so I had some good time for focused discussion.

I appreciate Camera Mart putting on the demo days and hope it proves profitable for them.

OK! Sorry I'm SO far behind folks! Of the people that submitted their photos before the November 8th Deadline - we have some stand out winners! In 3rd place, we have Ricky Madlani's fabulous fall color trail http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/8/3/e/2/highres_304053762.jpeg

In 2nd Place we have Ron Warren's child fishing
    http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/3/1/e/highres_304078142.jpeg

And in FIRST PLACE is what I think is the best landscape shot I've seen all year, Amy Olson's Mountain Landscape http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/d/f/9/0/highres_304077232.jpeg

Special Note goes to Mary Seltzers baby kitty - unfortunately she didn't post her photo before the deadline. Also, I did not count the people voting for themselves, only because some people commented on their own, and some people "Vote" commented on their own, and to be fair, I didn't count any of those. However, the winners are exactly the same either way. :) CONGRATULATIONS everyone

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
