An R-SMaT Festivus!

  • Dec 23, 2013 · 12:00 PM

In celebration of Festivus, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus) R-SMaT-ters will be encouraged to ride on Dec. 23, 2012.  Frank Constanza's explanation of the holiday (btw, he finds tinsel distracting, must not like too much chrome either):  http://youtu.be/ChmhQz5wsOI

In order to celebrate with us, do the following Festivus traditional practices on Dec 23:

The aluminum pole:  This would simply be grasping your motorcycle handlebars on your ride.

Feats of Strength:  Depending on the weather, it might require more tenacity to actually do this ride.

Airing of Grievances:  You need to complain to someone about something on your ride.  Examples might include posting a gripe on a intersection telephone pole, complaining to a passerby you encounter, etc.

Festivus Miracle:  Keep your eyes out for a miracle.  If one happens, you'll know it.  Report back to R-SMaT on your miraculous encounter as a "comment" on this page.

Final component: Post a picture of anything you like to show us your participation and support.  (Upload your picture in this meet-up's photo album.)

Just 16 miles for me on the Harley. It started raining / snowing before the bike was even at operating temp.

I've got a bunch of errands to do today, so some of them I'll try doing on the bike. Not going to be able to meetup...have fun and ride safe if you go out...

The forecast shows it drying out by 5 pm.

As long as the roads are dry, the cold can be tolerated.

Forecast, it could be cold as hell, but dry! Yes!

We'll make this happen. Watch this conversation for actual time and place to meetup. If things go real well, we can perhaps take a little ride after.

The KLR is all buttoned up, ready to ride. :)

Yes, I am keeping an eye on the weather closely. Let's see and then decide as best as possible. The KLR has the hardware on and all I need to do is the heated gear hookup. I haven't even started it yet after it was delivered, let alone ride it. 1.0 miles on the odo :)

PS: Thank you for the podcasts. I am listening to them with great attention and enjoyment.

This could be a problem if the snow doesn't stop!
