(5YSE) Tech Day: Learn to Wrench

This is our first of several special "5 Year Special Events" (5YSE) in 2014

Learn to Wrench is run by Jim Nier with the goal of teaching motorcycle owners how to repair and/or restore their motorcycle. Jim has graciously agreed to give a talk to RSM&T members on the subject of preparing their bikes for riding this spring.

Jim Nier has over 20 years experience in the motorcycle and motor sports industry. Jim has been factory trained on BMW, Honda, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia motorcycles, and Arctic Cat ATV’s. He also has experience working at Honda, Yamaha, BMW, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, and Arctic Cat dealerships. Jim’s knowledge and experience starts with basic tune ups, tire changes, and all-around maintenance through to major over hauls. Additional skills include suspension work, engine rebuilds, engine machining (bore and hone cylinders, valve and valve seat reconditioning) and drive wheel lacing and truing.

I took Jim’s course and found him to be a very knowledgeable and patient instructor. If you have specific topics you would like Jim to address please let me know.

You will see a Mobile Station and then Elmford Auto Center. The Learn to Wrench shop is behind Elmford Auto Center.

Thinking about attending with my brother, but wondering if there are details over what is going to be covered? Is this geared towards new wrenchers? Anyone heading to coffee after?

I am anticipating that this will be an informal and interactive meeting. Bring any questions you might have for Jim.

I am about a 90% yes right now. As long as I don't have a SHTF day at work I will be out on time and able to attend.
