About 10 years. Rode dirt bikes and had a Norton and later a Suzkui in the 70s but stopped riding for 20 years. Took a new rider attitude and studied and practiced to be a better and safer rider than I was before.
2005 Triumph Tiger 995i was the tourer and put +40k but crashed it in Sept 2012. Just got 2011 Triumph Tiger 800. 2002 Triumph Bonneville is the 'nostalgia' ride for banging around.
Relatively brisk pace, with mostly county/town roads dirt roads OK too. Like curves and hills. Dislike highways, interstates, can get a bit bored "cruising".
ATGATT..all the gear all the time. I've low sided in a corner and slid on my ass and arms. Very glad had my gear as no painful road rash whatsoever. . Cripes I need it for june bugs!
I keep the pin on posted speed limits in towns/villages. Reserve my speeding for when cows are watching. For some reason I always seem to be the last one ready gearing up to go?
Hoping to meet some other sport touring riders in the area to ride with. Maybe buddy up for some extended tours.
