This well-known location is the RSPB's flagship reserve on the Suffolk coast and a very popular destination for our Group.
There's a wide range of habitats, including extensive reedbeds, lagoons, woodland, heathland and seashore. On the nature trail there are a number of hides overlooking these different habitats where there is a good chance of seeing bittern, as well as waders, marsh harrier and bearded tits. At this time of year the reserve is also very good for a variety of species of butterfly and dragonfly.
The large visitor's centre has an RSPB shop, tearoom and toilets. Please note that there is an admission charge for non RSPB members.
