This may be a little shameless but I'm inviting you all to my art opening next First Friday. It's going to be a party, with drinking, among paintings of abstracted figures, in a huge hall with lots of tables and chairs, so I thought it really was begging for some Exquisite Corpse playin'.
It's a really beautiful historic building. I have no affiliation to the church, I was just asked by a someone at a Richmond eats Richmond potluck to show at the venue for their First Friday series.
There will be FREE beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic punch. My mama and I will be cooking up some delectable snacks. My parents will be in from Indiana and they know how to throw an art opening party.
Free parking in the adjacent deck on 8th between Grace and Franklin, less than a mile from the other downtown Art Walk galleries.
Those who haven't attended any RVA Drink 'n' Draw events due to the bar venues can participate in a more low key atmosphere.
Come early for free tours of the historic building (including AMAZING Tiffany glass-and believe me I do not say that lightly).
If you are one of the several new members, and aren't yet familiar with Exquisite Corpse... a paper is folded into thirds, one person draws the head on the top third and folds it down and marks the connecting lines onto the middle section and passes it on. The next person draws the torso and connecting lines for the legs, the third person draws the legs/feet/tail/lower portion. Then all unfold and laugh and clap!
You do not have to be skilled in drawing. You can spend as much or as little time on each section. Draw as many as you feel like or just come and hang.
Feel free to bring paper and writing utensils (No messy media, please). I will have some to share, too!
