Thinking outside the UID: Identity management with FreeIPA

David Sirrine, Public Sector Technical Account Manager at Red Hat, will present on FreeIPA.

This talk will cover how to leverage FreeIPA for Linux based centralized Identity Management including what FreeIPA can provide to your environment through the use of centrally managed sudoers, automount, user and group management, and more.

Also, for clarification, FreeIPA can sync users/passwords from AD so you can manage your accounts there, but use the remainder of the functionality FreeIPA brings to the table for your Linux account management OR you can use FreeIPA to authenticate your windows machines against. I'd stop just shy of it being a complete AD replacement, but if you're not doing anything super funky with AD, then FreeIPA can more than handle it.

After a group will be grabbing lunch at a nearby establishment so join us if you can.

It is like Most MOOC's in that it will Open on the First, we will be having a viewing Party tentatively every Wednesday at RIchmond Public Library, Main Branch... The Organizer of this Group Jeff and some other members are interested in viewing it with us, SO we will have people with Linux knowledge there, You do have to sign up for the class to take it, but we can watch the videos and discuss.... I too have signed up and logged on for the Certification...
