A community for soulful people who are interested in spirituality, self and body awareness, and in being supported and empowered on one's journey of being oneself more fully and living a flourishing life.
Moving Sanctuary is a nourishing space to come home to the heart of one’s being - a place of peace, wholeness, love and wisdom found within and beyond. Gatherings weave gently guided movement, free style dance, beautiful music, and practices of deep listening to ourselves, to each other and to the Divine/Great Mystery as it moves through us.
No experience is needed to participate. There are no structured steps to movement, we are gently guided to allow the movements to unfold from within. Movement is to beautiful music ranging from slower to more energized and fun rhythms.
Moving Sanctuary workshops are not therapy, but can be very therapeutic.
In addition to movement-based work, I also aim to share other soulful workshops on this meetup page that use meditation, expressive arts and deep listening practices for connecting with our Radiant Being and living more from that place.
Step into the land where God is the choreographer and each moment is new (Julie Leavitt)
You are not too young or too old to dive into your own increasing depths where life calmly gives out its own secrets (adapted from Rainer Maria Rilke)
WHERE AND WHEN:
Tuesday and Wednesday nights at central Toronto locations near subway, usually bi-weekly
Please see the calendar for details.
Each person is responsible for taking care of their physical and emotional wellbeing during and after Moving Sanctuary and Sanctuary for the Soul group activities. Movement, meditation and all other activities are offered as suggestions and each participant is encouraged to trust their instincts and participate to their level of comfort, this may include modifying the exercises as they see fit and choosing to not participate in what is offered.
Dancing to faster and energetic music rhythms is one of the group components and participants need to be aware of any movement or other restrictions they may have and are responsible for making adaptations.
As with any awareness practice, being present in our bodies and with our minds can make us more aware of our feelings, thoughts, body sensations and memories. This can be a source of growth for many people. Occasionally, this may not be a good fit.
If you have any concerns about potential impact of participating in the groups on your mental, physical or any other aspect of your health, please be in touch with your family doctor/appropriate health care provider - and/or with me in cases of any concerns related to mental health - prior to participating. Please keep me updated on your situation and needs. If you would like more information on what we do in the groups, do not hesitate to be in touch.

Passionate about the brilliance of our embodied souls/divine presence found in all of us and very fond of dance as a way of joyful expression, I am excited at the opportunity to co-create with you a sacred space and a community for us to connect with our embodied souls through movement.
Regarding my background, I received Master of Social Work training at the University of Toronto and am a registered social worker with the Ontario College Of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. My meditation background comes from regular personal practice and trainings including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. I provided clinical social work services at organizations including Ontario College of Art and Design University, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and Integra Children's Mental Health Centre. My movement practice is based on regular personal practice and participation in week-long workshops: Embodied Spirituality with Simona Aronow, Latifa Berry Kropf, Rabbi Diane Elliot and Julie Leavitt, Continuum Technique with Emily Conrad, Primordial Movement (movement that originates in the body intelligence) with Lorenna Bousquet-Kacera, as well as participation in other workshops and many classes led by other teachers. I'm also a meditator, nature lover, a visual artist and a long-time dancer.
I am looking forward to co-creating a sacred space and a supportive community where we can connect with the beauty, peace and radiance within us and beyond.
Warmly and with joy,
