Come join us for one of our Fly Tying nights!

All are welcome! We have extra vices for those who would like to give it a try. You don't have to be a TU member to come. We have had several of these get together's so far and they're a lot of fun. Even if you don't tie, you'll have a good time, meet some new people, pick up some tying tips, and just have a enjoyable night out. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Did I mention that it's FREE? Hope you can make it. When you come into the center, a sign will direct you to the room #.

Nice to see everyone and some new faces. If I'm not mistaken, Big Jake taught the Hares Ear Nymph and Pheasant Tail Nymph to a new tyer. He also helped me with my RS2 pattern. We also missed a couple of our tyers due to school sports practice.

Just a reminder, folks...the RRTU FTN at Cranford Community Center on Walnut Ave, from 7 to 9 pm, is MONDAY, Sept 10. That's right, TOMORROW, MONDAY, not Tuesday. Change made so additional people can attend.

If you haven't tried to tie your own flies, don't worry about not having any tools, materials, or any clue about how to do it. Don't worry if you're young or old, or a gal or guy. Jake and Jason (and others too) will share their knowledge of tying and techniques, all in a friendly and informal setting.

If you're not sure about learning, come on out anyway and watch the others. They're all willing to talk to you about what they're doing and the whys behind it. Or watch the DVD that'll be playing, while you enjoy free coffee and donuts. Or just sit around and talk fishing.

Good to see the air and water temps dropping. Hopefully the recent rain is also helping the water levels.

See you tomorrow - MONDAY - beginning at 7 pm.

I started tying last year. Bought the beginner's kit, books, watched Matt Grobert's excellent vids (Caddis Chronicles) and then caught him at Shannon's doing a class, viewed a bunch of JU's vids (Johnny Utah), and then dropped by an RRTU fly tying night. Really started learning hands-on last fall, and Jake and Jason have been incredible instructors. And before you know it, G Lech will be showing you something else, or Brian, and even Aaron Jasper will sometimes drop by and say no-no, not that way, let me show you... Yup, a great group, and fun time. Drop by to watch or learn.
