• What are possible treatment options...
To conclude the workshop, there will be some practical demonstrations as well - Moxibustion (form of heat therapy, excellent for cold days of autumn and winter) and some practical tips on Food Therapy.

PART 2 (optional): Saturday, 5th December, at ICTCM, Dublin 3.

Everybody interested will be able to take advantage of a unique opportunity to put Traditional Chinese Medicine by visiting ICTCM teaching clinic (Irish College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, est. 1983) and get treatment from College director Professor Thomas J. Shanahan, who is, after over 40 years of continuous practice, one of the best practitioners in Europe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a unique form of medicine that is practiced in China, and has been practiced with little change, relatively speaking, for the last two thousand years and even more.
In the above statement there are three main things one needs to acknowledge:

  1. It is a complete system of medicine.
It can treat anything that medicine can treat. Because it was developed far before modern medicine, it is completely different and it is usually hugely successful in areas where modern medicine isn’t.
  2. China.
China is a vast country full of different terrains and climates. TCM has successfully treated both extremes of types of diseases, those arising predominantly in cold areas as well as those from tropical areas (and, of course, everything in between as well).
  3. Practiced for several thousand years with little change.
This means that it has stood the test of time and it is thus both safe and efficient. Otherwise it would obviously have to be changed.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Vit Vreček Dobrin is a Trainee Practitioner at ICTCM College in Dublin. He briefly studied modern medicine in Slovenia, before embarking on a year long journey all around Latin America, where he came across several different types of alternative medicine, from Shamanism to Reiki. Upon his return home, he decided to start training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, as it is widely proven to be very effective and safe, and has been a diligent student at the ICTCM since 2013.

The ICTCM was founded in 1983 by the Director, Thomas J Shanahan, a native of Roosky, County Roscommon. With over 40 years of clinical practice, Professor Shanahan is one of the most qualified and experienced TCM practitioners in Europe. In January 2004 he was appointed as a Consulting Professor of TCM with the International Department of Guangzhou University of TCM. He is the first Irishman to be appointed to such a post, in recognition of his years of experience in, and commitment to, TCM.
