Wednesday Evening - Open Practice (Non-Newbie Event)

Hi Everyone,

Lake Wheeler off-water time is now 8pm so it's the return of weekday practice!  Please note, due to limited time schedule, Wednesday is not appropriate time for first time paddlers.  The coaches will not have enough time to review and teach proper technique and form. (Please join the weekend practice).  Anyone who has paddled before are welcomed!

We require at least 10 paddlers to sign up.  Please keep your responses up to date!
Practice is scheduled for 6:15pm.  Please arrive as EARLY as possible to assist with the boat docking.   Expected boat launch: 6:45pm

If you are coming from far distances and undecided about making it, enter a comment to inform the organizers to bring your vest and paddle in the boat.  We will circle around the docks.

Looking forward to some lake time after a long day at work and hope to see everyone out!

WAIVER - if you have not signed one.

This Wednesday practice was great. Challenging workout, individual attention from Kevin, next level skills and an absolutely beautiful evening with a lovely rainbow. Thanks everyone!

I decided to stay in today - as the forcast was calling for bad weather and it's a bit of a drive for me to the lake. Will be there this Sunday or the following Wednesday!

Hey Jessa, sorry about the late response but you should be just fine on the boat since you've been introduced to the technique already :)

I'll be coming from Durham so I might be a little late. Does someone mind bringing a PFD/paddle on the boat if you guys launch before I get there? Thanks!

from the airport, you are kinda limited to I-40...you could take 40 west to 540 S (partial toll road, after hwy 54 exit) and take that to 64 east, or you could take 540 just for a short while onto 55 South (toward Apex) to 64. who knows I-40 might not be too bad because of the holiday, but it could be worse if people are headed to the beach for the weekend.

If I were you, I would drive over I-40 and take a look at the east bound traffic, if it looks bad then I would take 40 west to 540s then exit on hwy 55 to 64 .... If it looks like things are moving well, you might be better of going I-40 east to exit 295 (Gorman St) then turn left on Tryon, right on Lake Wheeler Road.

Folks, it's on and off rain pattern. So let's commit on going to practice and meet up as early as possible to get the boat out and ready. We have lots of water in the boat!

As of 11:45am, weather.com radar shows no rain clouds at 5:00pm.
