Lake Wheeler says we can hand carry the boat out if we want. The levels have not increased at all. I somewhat question the safety of this, but if we have 10 or more willing to try... we can give it a go.

Hello! Unfortunately, I'm not a strong swimmer, but I love being on the water. It this absolutely required for the activity?

Hi welcome to the group. No you don't have to be a strong swimmer, there are life-vests which are required to wear. They haven't been needed yet. Also, there are plenty of good swimmers who can help if needed.

Sonia, we have never flipped our boat over in the lake (knock on wood) as the point is to make it to the finish line with everyone still inside :) You'll be in good company. Never fear :)

Hey, Alex! Welcome to the club! We have a couple of members who are in the Chapel Hill/Durham area who might be able to give you a ride. They usually sign up as the day of the event nears so check back then.

Sonia - It's not required that you be a strong swimmer, and you will be issued a PFD during practice anyway so you're good.

OK guys, I don't know how the duplication in the schedule happened for all the meetups, but during the winter we will practice later so that the air has more time to warm up before we go out. I won't know about the levels at the lake until all this rain has passed. The more rain the better, that's the only way the levels will be restored :) I will report back over the course of the next couple days!

Which time are we practicing? Has there been improvement in the condition of the lake?
