BARK FOR LIFE (American Cancer Society's Dog fundraising event)

“This is an all day event filled with activities for your dogs to partake in raising funds for a cause. There will be dog obedience tests, demonstrations, an all day dog walk, and will simply be a fun time to network with fellow dog lovers/owners.” Hello everyone! We are inviting you to support an even bigger and better Bark For Life event called 4th annual WALK-n-WAG of Wake County, which will be at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre.

This year's event is again in partnership with the American Kennel Club's Canine Partners Program. We will have a full day of fun to include Dog Demonstrations (agility test, flying dogs, etc), microchip and rabies clinic, rescue and adoption groups, FIGHT CANCER WALK, sponsor activities, etc. Here's how to participate:

1) AS A VOLUNTEER:

We also need help from volunteers with the following:

(PRE-EVENT)

1.a. SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE(do you know of local dog supplies stores, dog clinics, etc who may be interested to be a sponsor? We also need sponsors in kind : for game prizes, bottled water for all participants, goodies bags dog (i.e. treats of toys for the dogs, lanyards, etc);

1.b. PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE (assist in spreading the word - giving out fliers, putting posters out in the dog loving community, inviting members of clubs, residential villages, schools, churches, businesses, etc, participate in community events - fairs, festivals, other dog events, etc)

(EVENT DAY)

1.c. ONSITE COMMITTEE (assist with set-up, registration, greeters, games, program, break down and clean up).  For EVENT DAY VOLUNTEERS: unfortunately, we will be quite busy so you may not have the time to watch over your own dog and participate as a dog walker.

If you are interested in any of the above volunteer opportunities, or have questions, please email Kellie Judge at [masked] (provide your complete name, which of the above team/s you want to volunteer in, date/s and time/s you are available, your phone number, email address, mailing address and your t-shirt size - if you will be an event day volunteer).

    Hi all, Event is still on for Sunday. We are working out plans with venue to move vendors and as much as we can under the deck area. AKC will still be there doing what demos that they can so as not to risk injury to the dogs. But we will still walk at 1 p.m. Cancer doesn't take a break and neither do we.

    Hi everyone. You wont see my dog, Butter, at the dog walk. She just ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament on her left leg. With all the excitement, she might damage the right leg that is supporting the rear side of her body.

    We may have to take her to surgery either on Saturday or Sunday, so if you dont see me, you know where we are. If you are volunteering at the event, please look for Robin Oke or Kellie Judge. They will give you your assignments, if they have not already communicated that with you.

    Thank you so much for participating in this great event on Sunday as an event day volunteer!
