Mushroom Hunt 11/3 at Johnston Mill Nature Preserve

Come one, come all!

It's mushroom time in North Carolina and I propose a hunt at the Johnston Mill Nature Preserve on Sunday November 3 from 10:30 am-12:30 pm. Below is the address and the Triangle Land Conservancy website for your reference. Please do RSVP if you're going to come, I'd love to get a sense of how many folks to expect.

The habitat at Johnston Mill is varied hardwood forest with some creek bottomland, and so I hope that visiting those little damp patches will help compensate for the recent lack of rain when it comes to our favorite edible mushrooms like chicken of the woods, blewits, and maitake.

I plan to spend some time after the hunt trying to identify all the species we might find and eating a sandwich; if you're similarly inclined please bring ID books and snacks. Email or call me if you have any questions. Would love to see you all out in the woods!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
