In Raleigh I like going to Kings, Tir a Nog, Lincoln Theatre, Pour House, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Walnut Creek. In Chapel Hill and Carrboro both Local 506 and Cat's Cradle are great venues. In Durham either Motorco or the Blue Note Grill.
My favorite band of all time is the Beatles. Some local bands that I like are Ryan Gustafson and the Dead Tongues, The Human Eyes, Mandolin Orange, Kenny Roby, the Bowerbirds, the Avett Brothers, and Delta Rae. This is just a short list of other bands that I like but I'll go for it: Kodaline, Airborne Toxic Event, Passion Pit, the Cults, The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Ra Ra Riot, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, Frightened Rabbits, Franz Ferdinand, The Rolling Stones, Dawes, The Who, the Byrds, Fitz and the Tantrums, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Arcade Fire, The Feeling, CCR, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Tom Petty, Bob Seger, The Killers, Alison Krauss, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Old Crow Medicine Show, Brett Harris, Hard-Fi, James Taylor, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Jack White, The Black Keys...basically there are too many to name here...
I like most any kind of music including bluegrass, Americana, folk, indie rock, classic rock, hard rock, alt-country, alternative rock, jazz, blues, classical, electronica, and pop. So really anything as long as a good beat, melody, and interesting lyrics. :)
I like Raleigh but I don't mind venturing out to Carrboro, Chapel Hill, or Durham if there's a good band playing!
I moved back to Raleigh and am loving the local music scene in the Triangle. Would love to meet other music lovers and catch some great bands.
