Hey gang. Time for some friendly and casual top roping, with a bit of sport and trad added for good measure. This will also be an excellent opportunity to review your anchoring skills or learn some new techniques. After climbing we can get some food in Winston Salem. http://www.climbpilotnc.us/
Welcome! I've created this group to bring together climbers of every ability and create a community focused on climbing outdoors in North Carolina and beyond. Whether you are interested in day trips to Pilot or Moore's Wall, or weekend trips to Linville Gorge, we can make it happen. My sincere hope is that each and every member will take the initiative to plan the climbs they want to do, find other interested members, and then make it happen.
Another goal of the group is to revive the now fading practice of mentor/mentee climbing relationships. When I first started climbing in the early 1990s there were few if any climbing gyms, and even fewer places to take lessons. We learned to climb by hanging out at the crag and learning from more senior climbers who taught us everything from footwork to anchor building. Hopefully the more senior members of this group would be willing to reprise this role and teach the younger members the fundamentals of climbing outside.
