Most of those that attended seemed to be folks that saw the information at the Twin Oaks feed store, not from this Meetup. Two women talked and they both were very knowledgeable and shared some good information, but they covered a little bit of the same material. I felt that they gave information based upon what they had been taught and from what they have seen in large scale productions, but not from any personal chicken experience, as I do not think that they own any chickens. For example, when they talked about mortality rates, they were very high and were based upon crowded commercial productions. Their presentations were also a little bit too long. Every person in attendance was only interested in backyard chickens and only for eggs. After both presentations, folks were asking lots of practical backyard chicken questions, and for some questions neither could answer them.

Don't let 'em tell ya you need the medicated chick starter for the chicks to survive - it's not even almost true

Twin Oaks is one of my favorite places! This should be a very good meeting.
