Just since 2010.
Three, had up to five in the past and getting some chicks this spring, 2016.
2 buff orpingtons, 2 RI reds, one Americauna
The eggs can't be beat and they are funny to watch.
My wife and I were ringleaders in getting Durham to pass a backyard hen ordinance. Helped a friend build an almost-free coop mostly of pallets and scavenged material. Also teach a Hentopia coop design/build class every June. Check www.frankhyman.com for details.
My wife and I started in 2010 with chickens. I'm a designer/carpenter/sculptor, I've created a chicken coop and hen habitat we call Hentopia. We can go on vacation for two weeks and my wife says we spend less time on chores than on cooking eggs!
