I purchased Meyer Hatchery chicks in June 2010.
Six pullets, one cockerel.
My chickens are dual-purpose Buckeyes, a heritage breed that looks like a Rhode Island Red with a pea comb. They were developed in Ohio by Nettie Metcalf, the only woman to have developed an APA recognized breed. They are an endangered breed.
They are easy and interesting. Their fresh eggs are the best tasting and good for you.
