Re: [The-Raleigh-Durham-Backyard-Poultry-Meetup-Group] Potluck from locally produced food? Food swap?

My family and I just moved to the area in July.  We lived, with our two kids, overseas for six years teaching at an American school. My husband is teaching and I am trying to reinvent myself as a science writer and we are living in a temporary situation. Consequently I do not have much to barter with at this time.  I am on this meetup as I dream about one day growing my own food and living more sustainably. I can bake though!  While I will work hard at obtaining as many local ingredients as possible- I can't not promise anything.  I do have a nice camera and have had some success with taking nice images- mainly of nature but have done people too.  I have taken classes but I would not consider myself a professional.

Would two actively curious, nature loving reasonably well-behaved children (7 and 9) be welcome?

Thanks,
Shawna

Count my husband and I in! Sat. Works best for us. Terry does calligraphy and custom snowflakes, I am an interior decorator and could barter that service. Sounds like great fun. Thanks!

I would love to help you.  I work until 8:30pm in RDU area M-F.  I don't really raise anything but would love to bake.  I can make some cheesecakes....sue

My freezers are literally overflowing with backyard pasture raised pork,
poultry, goat, rabbit, etc.  Who wants to help me cook up some of it for the
proposed potluck?  Or trade some for your home grown produce, herbs, baked
goods, etc?

I'd love to do a home produced food swap.
