I'm new to the group and this is my first post.  :)  I wanted to mention this product though, made in Pittsboro, NC:

We have one and love it.  I posted on it here so you can see some pictures:

I'm currently building a permanent coop and run so we can add more birds.  We'll continue to use the Egg Yolk to separate young birds before putting them in with the older birds and for working different areas of the yard.

Hi Everyone! I have been thinking about keeping hens for awhile but was finally given the ok by my HOA. :) I missed the 101 meetings in the fall. I've been educating myself on BYC and also thanks to wonderful friends with lots of experience. Wanted to check here to see if anyone recommends an additional sources of info to get off on the right foot.

We are also not a DIY family, nor do we have the time to devote to constructing a coop, so we're going to be buying one. There are lots of folks on Craigslist, and of course Carolina Coops. Does anyone recommend a particular person/company to make it? We are in South Durham in a subdivision with a moderate sized backyard, and I'm thinking we'll keep maybe 6 birds in an enclosed run.

Thanks for all your help in advance!
