Jedi in January - Jan 12th, 1 - 5pm

The Eastern NC Prepper group is a 100 member group for preppers and those that wish to learn more about the lifestyle that live in eastern NC (however the group is open to anyone).

The main objectives of this group is:
- Networking with fellow preppers
- Advancement of the art and skill of prepping
- Dispelling some of the myths and sterotypes of preppers.

The group has only 3 rules, no religion, politics or business hocking in general group. Meaning in private if you want to discuss that with others that is fine.

I am Orion Darkwood and would like to personally invite you (friends and family are welcome) to this meeting.

Please RSVP by January 4th

Date January 12th

Time 1pm – 5pm (park closes at 6pm)

Location William B. Umstead Park Shelter #2 (Crabtree Creek) -http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/wium/main.php

Directions – Go into the park from the Glennwood Ave side (if you coming up Glennwood from 440 I recommend going up to the stop light and turning around since getting across can be a pain). Once in the park kept straight until the road circles back [masked],[masked] for you GPS junkies), the Big Lake will be on your right. You see a sign pointing to a concrete walkway that winds around some picnic tables. Shelter #2 will be visible (its the second building you will see on your right) if you get the bathroom you have gone too far.

Looks like Orion is a mind reader, too. He's posted the February meet up for Feb 9 as Blanca said. He's called it Foodies in Feb.

    Thanks Orion!

we are preppers. we are friends. we are going to agree. we are going to disagree. we meet because we want to survive. as a group we need to speak about issues that yes might make us feel uncomfortable but that is a good thing. speak about it. know how you feel. feel it. deal with it. food for thought. be prepared.

I wasn't there the whole time and maybe I missed something juicy, but as a single mother of two young children, I would have no problem killing some one to protect my kids or myself. I know, I know, it's easy to say. But I do think it's some thing that needs to be said to people who honestly think it would never come to that. Today was the first meeting of the year and it sounds like there's usually a single topic/meeting, maybe that will help to avoid 'hot topics'. I thought Orion did a good job of calling time out when the conversation turned to guns and the government. I just want to learn all I can and research ways to prep inexpensively! There is no 'most likely' situation that I'm preparing for, in fact that's the whole point to me, we don't know what's going to happen. I just want to be more self sufficient. Thanks Orion and Paula for your time and efforts today! And thank you to who ever brought the coffee and donuts...we should get along just fine :)

Hi Orion, It was pretty good but I was put off by the talk of 'get ready to kill someone'. I would have liked some discussion of commerce when the US dollar fails. Barter ONLY works when each party has something that the other wants. I would expect that to RARELY be the case. What about silver coins? In Zimbabwe a loaf of bread costs 1/10 gram of gold. Does everyone have a scale? are there trusted teensy weensy coins there? How would that work? What about the economics of compassion and sharing to build community? I've heard that if you have food to trade, in short order you'll have everyones guns, ammo and gold. Dusty and I enjoyed the outing in the park. Thanks.

Sorry to hear that, however it was a subject I felt needed to be discussed, as for Barter I did that topic a while back, maybe the topic can be discussed again. I will email me to discuss the silver coins and other questions

I agree with rixdobbs, I enjoyed meeting all of you but I feel we did get off topic a bit with the having to defend yourself and kill someone talk. First we have to learn and build our community and prep ourselves before we start planing on defending ourselves and fighting for what we may have if or when the worse happens. My personal philosophy is hope for the best prepare for the worse.

hi all!! we will be there but we won't stay until 5.....that's a long day for us.

Hope we're not too late to RSVP, but we'll be there, if OK

This May be a silly question but should I bring anything to this meet-up? Food, drink, my survival bag?
