I used to climb twice a week outdoors in MA in the late '90s, but then I went back to school and then moved to Raleigh 3 yrs ago. I'm now a civil eng. researcher at NCSU.
My highest level when I was climbing regularly was 5.9 for top roping. On multi-pitch climbs, such as at the Gunks, I stuck to 5.6 and under as a second. Right now, I can comfortably climb indoors at much lower levels (like 5.5-5.7), so I've lost a lot of ground that I hope to make up if I can join up with a good group of people. To start getting back into climbing, I did take the intermediate climbing course at NCSU last year - that was useful, especially for refreshing my anchor skills.
improve my strength and skills so I can one day lead climb. And I want to work on learning off-widths climbing. I tried it at Red Rock Rendevous this year and found it so challenging and enticing.
