We have just 12 spaces! If you click to book you MUST come as there has been so much interest in this trip! Come climb (Top Rope) some great single pitch routes this summer around the Looking Glass region of Pisgah National Forest. Join Fox Mountain Guides for a full day of rock climbing at one of these amazing areas, with all technical equipment supplied along with professional AMGA Certified Instructors from the Southeast’s only AMGA Accredited Program. This day of climbing would cost $70 a person, but will be offered for free by Fox Mountain Guides. However, we strongly encourage you to make a donation or join the Carolina Climbers Coalition for as little as $25! If you make a donation please bring the receipt with you to be entered into a prize draw!
This will be a full day of climbing and will suite climbers of any ability and experience level.
We will meet at Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School
At 9am, Saturday 26th June. Don’t be late!!
Maximum of 12 people.
What To Bring:
Good hiking shoes (no sandals, Crocs, etc)
You may wear shorts or long pants if you wish. Wear clothing to be 'active' in and water proof jackets are a good idea on all trips.
Water, about 2 Quarts a person especially in summer months.
High energy snacks and for full day trips a high energy lunch.
Sun block and bug repellent.
Any personal medications (e.g. medications for asthma, anaphylactic if you are severely reactive to bee stings, etc)
Small backpack for all above items. What To Expect:
You will meet the guide and get fitted for all required equipment (if you have your own the guide will inspect it at this time).
After a short 20 min drive to the trailhead you will hike through the forest between 20-30 minutes depending on which area you are climbing at.
Cell phones will not work at the climbing site.
No dogs on trips please

It was a great class! Adam and Eric were very patient, willing to explain and demonstrate lots of different skills.

You won't be attending another event of this type.

And you've given me plenty of information about you. There were other members of the group that wasn't certain about their schedule, they didn't RSVP because they wanted people who were certain about the schedule a chance to attend. This is the type of behavior I expect. You are the type of person that changes your RSVP, doesn't bother emailing me to explain why. You expect everyone else to work around your schedule and you expect someone to organize for a full weekend trip in two days?

I should have my plan figured out for sure this evening, but at this time I am looking at leaving Friday evening (after 5, but hopefully earlier, workin on it) and coming back as soon as we're done Saturday. Ideally I'll get to stay for dinner with the group on Saturday but that will depend on what time we're done. I am taking Joe and have room for 2 others - Kavitha and Jen contacted me first but if they aren't going with me the space is open. I live in Apex - will leave and return there.

Is anyone planning on driving out there later Friday night or early Saturday morning?

For those asking about rides...It's possible now I might have to leave after climbing Saturday to come home. Long story but at least I'm still getting to climb!

I am planning to drive; I can take up to 3 other people in my SUV, and plan to be back in the Triangle by Sunday evening. Let me know if you are interested by emailing me at: [masked] or calling:[masked]

Those of you who are camping might want to start shooting emails about car pooling. There are only 4 parking spots at the camp site. It would be ideal to make it to the campsite and set up camp before dark on friday. I would recommend heading no later than 3pm on friday. Feel free to contact me or Hua-Ying for any additional info.

Times are pretty flexible on my end. Picking Jackie on the way up should be no problem. I'm assuming a lot of people want to hike on Sunday. If the hike isn't too long then returning to the Triad, Triangle by early Sunday evening sould be fine.

I live in Chapel Hill. Might be a good meeting place to coordinate a ride up. My car can fit 7 but probably with gear 6 is better. Suggestions on time welcome.

Joe and I are staying at the Clarion Inn Asheville Airport. We don't have tents or sleeping bags...but we'll come hang with everyone at the campsite! Planning on driving together Friday and coming home Sunday - I have to be home before 6pm Sunday so I'm doubting anyone else wants to ride along.

I just made a reservation for the 25th and 26th,at Ash Grove, they do not have too many sites left. Seems like a cool place. They have some hiking trails about 14 miles, and another state park is close by with 100 miles of hiking if anyone whats to hike Sunday. Check in is before 9pm check out is 1pm. I will be taking Friday off and will head up there after lunch so i can be there late afternoon.

Though it's been a while, I'm up to give camping another try. I have a Yukon. It'll take seven as long as there isn't too much gear.

If anyone is interested, there is another campground called Ash Grove nearby. It seems there must be something going on this weekend, as a lot of hotels are also full already. I will probably be booking a hotel for just Friday night, in an effort to save some $.

I have been trying to find a hotel nearby...but I'm not sure where "nearby" is exactly. I guess we are meeting at Fox Mountain guides place, but they have multiple locations - Hua Ying is it the headquarters? Or can you recommend an area in which to search for hotels that will be convenient?

Oh yeah, I'm planning on staying there Friday and Saturday nights, and hiking or whatever Sunday morning too - but just not camping. I was just wondering if anyone had looked at hotels or had other plans.
