I am a PhD-trained scientist who has migrated, over the years, through international business development, a couple of stints as international scientific spokesperson to intensive work culture and organization redesign evaluation and implementation.
Just found you on MeetUp
It's highly variable. I've been a small college science professor, a immunotoxicology consultant to a large chemical company, the national director of clinical and biotech business development for Kelly Scientific Resources, an onsite recruiting and retention analyst for Korn/Ferry at a large clinical research organization to a smaller academic clinical research setting, to an international liaison for advocacy groups in Alzheimer's for a mega-pharmaceutical company. I do curricular development in the medical sciences and work primarily in analysis of large corporate systems to document how they impact productivity, job satisfaction, retention, organizational knowledge, recruiting costs, credibility, etc., and design and implement processes to improve these things, usually via interaction with SVP to C-level executives. This is also true in academic medical centers reporting, generally, to the Chief HR officer or president of the medical school or hospital.
Diversity, networking opportunities, energy. I've recently formed a LLC and would like to explore the utility of the offerings among professionals of varied backgrounds.
Very far from either 21 and 1000 years old.
