I'm a designer, non-technical entrepreneur mentor and support services guy. I've been practicing graphic design for 40 plus years. I still get a kick from "The Process", that ends with the clients smiling from ear to ear. I've owned and managed an advertising design studio for a decade plus. After that I taught Advanced Graphic Design Problem Solving plus a plethora of other college design courses (including Branding and Design Management) for another ten plus. I worked for a time in the non-profit sector, then launched and perfected the business model for my event caricaturing business, while still doing the graphic design thing.
I'm a veteran graphic designer/illustrator/brander. I'm a blue-skier in an Iron-man suit: no telling where I'll take an idea session. Photoshop? Yes, Adobe Creative Suite is my playground, but those are just tools in the hands of a master carpenter. Put a ballpoint pen in my hand and like its a wand, I'll conjure up a ballet of images.
I'm an excellent brander of companies, products and services, but also a blue skier of new names and labels. I know the processes of taking ownership of names, before the investment into design begins. This flows into all thing branded, including the front-end design of websites to retail store facades. The branding of Quest Musique's locations on Portage Avenue (beside Advanced Electronics) and Meadowood Drive (across from Silver City, St. Vital) are a fine example of my work.
I am working on a start up project, but that is confidential.
To be a mentor. Perhaps some paid design work. But really its about having fun. I mean, if you can't have fun at this, then what's the point. Its about creating something new and useful, and affecting positive change in people's lives, however small that may be.
I've moved thru the tech changes during the 70s, 80s, 90s & then the 1st decade of this century 'til present. Along the way I've been an animator, illustrator, designer and college instructor. I've even stumbled upon a hidden talent for caricaturing.
