Inspire creation with technology such as the Raspberry Pi over a pint.

We have arranged for Dave Akerman to talk to us about his amazing Raspberry Pi project beating Felix Baumgartner's 39km skydive with a Teddy Bear.  This project was featured by the BBC, The IndependentThe Telegraph and now Raspberry Pint!

We encourage people to bring along any kit (e.g. Raspberry Pi) they have especially if they have a project to show off or if they would like some help getting it going.  We can also put a presentation on the big screen if you want to talk about something.

There were some wonderful examples to look at during the last meetup.  There were also people asking how to get going straight out of the box it came in.  The more experienced members would love to help those new to Raspberry Pi.

Event: Great talks and great demos. Loved the interactivity of the Big Track with robot arm from Leo. Dave Akerman's talk waa especially in depth and great of him to travel so far to attend.

Venue: Great to have a private room with its own bar and food. Prices a bit steep and choice of beers a bit limited. Noosy door a little annoying. Otherwise right size, useful big screen and brilliant and friendly bar staff.

Here's the link to my talk: http://unop.co.uk/dev/raspberry-pi-electricity-monitor/

I'll see if I can show off the meerkat monitor a bit more next time. It's basically one of these http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/P~153830~Meerkat-Solar-Light rigged up to the GPIO on a Pi.

Great Meetup but we got side tracked quite a bit between the talks. Not a negative thing but I think we should watch the time more closely in future and postpone longer discussions until after the talks.

Looking forward to this; my Pi is just a RaspBMC media center at present but have extra hardware and ideas if I can make it work (developing that on desktop PC first, when I get round to doing more). Before then, am also going to Oggcamp (open source/Linux unconference in Liverpool) which might have some Pi Jamming too.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
