Discussion: The Meaning of Life

If we're not part of some divine plan, is there a purpose or meaning to life?  Should there be?  Can we come to a rational conclusion about such a question, or is the answer personal and unique to each of us?  These are the kind of questions we'll be discussing at our upcoming meetup on September 15th.

The location is the same as last time (TOZ Gangnam Location 1), and the fee is a fixed 10,000won.

Hope to see you all there!

This was mentioned briefly during today's meeting. The Dalai Lama has some interesting, rational ideas about science, especially for a religious leader. "... if scientific analysis were conclusively to demonstrate certain claims in Buddhism to be false, then we must accept the findings of science and abandon those claims."

That's good to hear, in my experience buddhism is often one of the more rational religions. If you have time could you send me a link to your writing group as I'd be very interested to come along and listen to others even if I don't have anything to contribute

In some random musings at dinner, I opined that our ability to go to the moon was lost, and expressed sadness over that fact.

A blurb I found explains it thusly:

    (Item '4' on the list)

with a more nuanced discussion, suggesting things aren't exactly so bad to be found here:

Hope this fires up some people, and starts general murmuring that we need to re-invest in space. ^^

I had an excellent time at this discussion. I really want to be present at the next discussion, since the issue of morality always concerns me in everyday life. Unfortunately, I've already booked myself to go see a Spanish flamenco performance on that particular day. Boo-hoo...ㅠㅠ

Matthew, I may be a little late. Please keep an eye out for me on meetup in case I get lost!

Hey guys! Did we ever get a consensus on the topic(s)?
