2013 DC Vegfest!!!!

The DC VegFest aims to highlight how easy and delicious it is to choose vegetarian foods in and around the nation’s capital. Founded by the Vegetarian Society of DC in 1997 as VegFest DC, Compassion Over Killing is proud to continue hosting this free festival celebrating the city’s diverse palate for animal-friendly cuisine and the many benefits of a plant-based diet. Featuring speakers, cooking demonstrations, free food samples, dozens of exhibitors, commercial vendors, and area food vendors, the DC VegFest has something for everyone to enjoy!

NOTE: At the DC VegFest info booth, they will be giving out free bags to the first 1,000 people, starting at 11:00am. Bags will not be given out before 11:00am.

Driving: The address is 10 Water St, SE, DC 20003, though it’s located on the 300 blk of Water St. Click here for a map to get driving directions.

Metro: Yards Park is conveniently located near two Metro stations:

•From the Green Line, use the Navy Yard Metro stop and take the New Jersey Ave. Exit). Click here for walking directions from the Navy Yard Metro to the Park.
•From the Orange Line, take the Capitol South Metro. Click here for walking directions from the Capitol South Metro to the Park.
Bus and DC Circular: Multiple Metro bus routes including the A42, A46, A48, P1, P2, V7, V8, V9 have stops along M Street, SE. You can also take the Union Station-Navy Yard Route via Capitol Hill on the DC Circular. The Circulator costs only $1 and will have extended weekend and evening service for Nationals game days (which includes Sat., Sept. 22).

Cars: In addition street parking options, parking will be available at the Yards’ surface parking lots. According to the Yard’s Park website:

There are pay-to-park surface parking lot off 4th St, SE directly north of the Yards Park. There is also public, metered street parking along Tingey St, SE and New Jersey Ave, SE, as well as sections of 4th St, SE, north of M St. If possible, it is recommended that you arrive by Metro, Circulator, WMATA bus, bicycle or by walking.

Bikes: The Yards Park has bike racks clustered throughout the park free, including at the entrance of the DC VegFest. Capital Bikeshare is also conveniently located at the corner of M and New Jersey Ave., SE and at corner of First St. and N St., SE

    Hey everyone. I may or may not be there tomorrow. Unfortunately I have caught a terrible cold so I will more than likely be staying home. I do hope you will all still attend and enjoy vegan activities/ seminars / workshops!
