Juice fast challenge!!

  • Mar 6, 2013 · 7:00 AM

I'm really excited about doing my next juice fast!! I had such amazing results with my first one! It's gonna be so much fun doing it together! :D

Here is the program that we're going to be doing:

March 6th - March 13th we'll be eating all raw and organic, to get our bodies ready for the juice fast.

You can eat any raw fruits, veggies, nuts, and drink water, raw smoothies and raw juices. Ask me for as many recipes as you'd like and I'll also post what I had to eat and drink daily.

March 14th - 16th We will do our juice fast! I will post yummy juice recipes as well as what I juice daily.

March 17th we will be coming off of our fast. You want to take it slow on this day. I recommend still juicing and introducing smoothies, and small raw snacks -- like fruits and veggies.

Requirements:

  1. You need to have a juicer
  2. Make sure to check in here at the end of each day to let everyone know how it went...and I'll be here to help in any way I can :).

RSVP if you think that you can step up to the challenge! :D

p.s. this is an awesome way to get the kiddos excited about fruits and veggies! My Son had so much fun making these juices with me.

I feel amazing too! Yesterday throughout the day I had 3 juices, one mainly melon, one mainly spinach, and one mainly carrot. They all had celery and an apple and some lemon. Thanks for all the support and inspiration!

I'm so proud of you guys! :D I feel amazing! I had warm water with lemon jucie, carrot, apple and kale juice, orange, lemon and spinach, apple carrot, and broccoli, and lots of water.

This morning I juiced an apple w cinnamon and added hot water, then later juiced pineapple, celery, carrots, brussel sprouts, and lemon. In the afternoon I juiced a whole bunch of red and yellow tomatoes with some fresh basil, garlic, and oregano from my garden ( which was really fun). I've continued drinking tons of lemon water too. I feel great! My husband feels pretty hungry for carbs though, and not as energetic as me. He can't wait to eat tortillas again! Lol

Two days down, one more to go! :D Feeling great. The only glitch was when I didn't bring enough water with me to the playground. Lol, that was hard and I started to feel weak quickly. Juiced pretty much the same things that I did yesterday.

Around 10:00am I had lemon juice with water. At 1:00pm I juiced 3 carrots, 1 celery, 3 oranges and 2 cups of kale. 4:00pm drank the rest of the Orange juice that I had made. 6:00pm Juiced 3 apples, 1 tomato and 2 cups of spinach. 8:00pm juiced 6 carrots, 1/2 a red pepper and 2 cups of kale. 10:30pm made some more orange juice. Day 1 went really well. I have lots of energy and feel great! :D. I also drank at least a cup of water about every hour.

Yesterday I juiced an apple and added hot water and cinnamon, then later juiced some veggies, then around lunch I had leftover "eggplant bruschetta" and before dinnertime I had some more juiced veggies. I drank lemon water all day with a little cayenne pepper and maple syrup. I felt super energized all day! :)

I had a smoothie w banana, orange , berries, nano greens powder and soy powder. Then followed w trail mix. For lunch I had an apple, and more trail mix. For dinner I had 2 devilled avocados and mushrooms stuffed with the avocado filling plus cashew cream and sunflower seeds on top. Yummy! Tomorrow I'll do my measurements to see how I go. Training my dogs (1-2) walk is helping too!

Lacey, I used Tosca's recipe from the meetup group website, modified for my taste (not big on onions) :-)

Today was extra busy day at work, so my meals were really simple. I literally grabbed a bag and threw in some carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes, 1 whole avocado, kale and munched on that all day. For dinner I had a salad and for desert I had lots of yummy dates :D.

I had pretty much the same thing today as yesterday -- munched on fruits and veggies, smoothies and salads. Each day my salads are a little different. I find that I've been craving a lot of garlic. Also had delicious dates and this all raw food bar :).

Today I put peanut butter, walnuts, sunflower seeds, a banana and some honey and a little water in a food processor to make a sweet paste. Then I served it on apple slices. It was good for a sweet tooth fix.

I nearly backed out of starting the fast yesterday because I was taking Rylee to a fieldtrip to Sea World for the day with my sister and his cousins... however, in the morning I made a 5 cup smoothie with 1 banana, 2 apples, 2 cups of soymilk (oops, not raw, huh?), 1 cup mixed berries, nano green nutrient powder, and water to top off. I also packed trail mix, carrots and celery with peanut butter. I munched randomly all day and around 5pm had a dinner of 2 "deviled" avocados (thanks group!) and a bowl of strawberries. So far so good! I got a measuring tape from my sewing kit so that I can measure the wider part of my arms, hips, waist and thighs. My goal is to fit into my pre-winter clothes. Lazyness+cooking = I gained 20 pounds since October, and I don't care about the weight as much as the measurements, since I don't want to have to buy all new clothes for summer!

So that is where I am at ladies! :)

That is so awesome Emily!!! Especially with going Sea World!! It can be so hard when everyone around is eating other things.

My day was a little rough but I prepared a nut and herb dressing that was awesome on my salad, water with lemon, made a Tomato Garden Veggie soup for I'm new to raw, and ate one meal cooked suggested by someone, but at least it was healthy all natural. I posted a picture on my facebook account if you look me up. Tonight juiced some various citrus like 6 types to get me thur tomorrow sugar attacks while watching others snack at work. I'm limited on space in fridge any suggestions on what vegetables can stay on my counter for a few days? I have a low tolerance for bacteria and mold so I'm extra cautious. Thanks

    March 7, 2013

    • Tosca

You go girl!! :D Sounds like you did great! Lets see...avocado doesn't need to be refrigerated, banana, and if you get a glass of drinking water and put the carrots, standing up in the water, they stay fresh for days on the counter :). Let me know if you need anything else.

Day 1 went really well for me! :) I spent the day munching on fruits and veggies and I'm ending my day drinking a yummy big blueberry smoothie :D. Can't wait to hear how everyone's day went! Message me if ya need any recipes ideas <3

    Hey! :) How's everyone doing?

    March 6, 2013

  • Tosca

Yay! Tomorrow is day 1!! So for this week, we are eating 100% raw to get our body ready for the juice fast. Here is what I plan on eating tomorrow:
    Breakfast
Cut up fruit & a Green Smoothie:
3 ripe, frozen bananas (I peel the bananas and just throw them in the freezer)
1 cup of frozen fruit (I like blueberries)
2 cups of greens (spinach, kale, or collard greens work well)
    2 cups of water
Start at the chop setting and work your way all the way to the highest setting. Blend until really smooth, serve with a straw and enjoy! I'm going to snack on lots of fruits and veggies throughout the day & maybe some homemade trailmix.

Avocado Salad! Avocado, tomato, olive oil, salt, onion. chop up the avocado, and mash into guacamole texture, pour in 4 tbsp of olive oil and mix well, tear up some kale and throw it in the bowl. Mix the kale and avocado thoroughly. chop up tomato and onion and throw it in. sprinkle some salt to taste. Works really well with homemade salsa too. :D

The juice fast sounds amazing! I'm a regular green smoothie drinker, but have never participated in a strict juice fast. I'm in the midst of training for a race, so I'm running quite a few miles on a regular basis, so I'm a little concerned about caloric intake. Do you have any insight in this arena. Thanks so much for inviting us to be a part of this with you and whether or not I get to do it with you this time around, I would LOVE some raw recipes. Have a wonderful day!
