Hello! I organized this Meetup because people keep asking me about my raw food lifestyle (I am 100% raw, about 95% of the time!) and I am hoping to find like-minded people to share ideas and experiences with. I expect this group to be a lot of fun!
I am almost 100% raw (translation: once in a while you just gotta eat popcorn at the movies, and although beer isn't really raw, I do like a cold one now and then!) I was a vegetarian for 14 years before going raw vegan.
To make friends and share what I have learned so far. I graduated in 2007 from Living Light Culinary and I am enrolled at IIN in NYC now. I see unnecessary suffering due to bad choices and I want to help people transition to a better way of living.
I tend to be an "emotional eater." I like food (who doesn't?!) and sometimes use it as a substitute for other things. I also struggle with overeating when I find things I really like (I can seriously knock back a lot of raw cheesecake!)
I have lots of favorites and they change all the time! I make some great flax crackers (have even done chocolate ones!), I love to make fresh salad dressings. Deserts are a downfall: I love anything made with dates.!
"As we evolve as a group, I am really counting on input from all of you! Do you want to hear speakers at Meetups? See live (non) cooking demos? Watch films about the lifestyle -- or simply have a raw potluck group? Please tell me...I am all ears!"
Whether you are already enjoying the raw food lifestyle -- or just want to learn more -- our group is supportive and I learn something new at each meeting. Come once and you will want to join us every time!
You must be signed in to post a Greeting.
Juices and Smoothies = Liquid Energy!
"I think this group had some of the best questions (and enthusiasm!) of any I've spoken to lately. Thank you for coming, and thank you to Sharon, Angela and Diane for your support and for doing the "heavy lifting" for me. ..."
"Thank you again, Celeste. The group and ambience were stellar! And it's great that you had all the ingredients there for attendees to make the chocolate concoction at home themselves. See you all next week!"
"Great turnout and a great group of people. As always, the questions were excellent....lots of new faces which i always fun. Isn't that a nice store too!?"
