100% whole foods, 50%+ raw, almost 100% gluten free (alternative flours), dairy is very limited to a little cheese - especially sheep milk cheese, kefir and yogurt. I make some fermented foods like sauerkraut and pickles (from Nourishing Traditions cookbook). I do eat some meat but try to buy organic chicken and beef, and some lamb. I have a Champion juicer and juice every morning, eat a salad or kefir shake for lunch, and then a dinner that maybe raw, vegetarian, or contain meat.
I want to meet other people that eat raw and would especially like new recipes. I would like to do more with a dehydrator. I have a cheap one that I got at a thrift store that I play around with, but want to eventually get an Excalibur - not sure of what size I need. But I want to get something that works and would like to see it in action to make something that isn't dried to the bone like mine does in a couple hours. I especially want main dish recipes.
I want to find good prices on bulk items like various raw nuts and other raw items, so that I can make the dishes that I want. Time, expense, and know-how.
Red peppers stuffed with a super veggie guacamole, served with a raw spinach/mushroom "crepe." And a first course of raw creamy corn soup garnished with grape tomatoes, green onions, celery leaves, and asparagus tips. (This is all too much for me to eat at one time, but what is needed to make my husband smile.)
Hi, my name is Ruth and I am moving to the Des Moines area from Texas in about a month or so. I am very interested in raw foods, have a number of raw food cook books, have made various raw meals, and love cooking raw.
Good. This is the first event that I attended. Can't wait for Raw Food Week!!!!
