WOW! What an amazing reception for the organizational meeting of the Des Moines Raw Food MeetUp Group. We already have 40 members and our initial event (January 7 at East Village Books) was filled to capacity 21 days before the event. That said: may I make a request?
If you have RSVPed "Yes" or "Maybe" for January 7 and your plans have changed, will you please change your RSVP on the MeetUp website? We have several members who are on a wait list to attend. What a shame it would be if they could have come but we didn?t know?.
If you have a friend who would like to be added to the wait list, I suggest that they: ? Join the group and RSVP ?No.? ? In the comment box, tell them to put a message that says ?meeting was full at my time of RSVP--please put me on the waiting list.? That way we?ll know how many others are wanting to join us and I can be in touch directly if a spot opens up.
Also, please mark your calendar for our 2nd meeting on Monday, February 4 at 6:00 p.m. Location and details will be determined by your input at the January meeting.
Finally, I have been asked if bringing a raw dish to share is a requirement. It is not required, but I really hope we have some brave souls who will bring something. I will be doing a demo that evening, but would really appreciate your support so we have some variety. We can all learn from each other? There are tons of raw recipes on the web, and I do know that East Village Books has ordered a number of raw recipe books just for our little group. C?mon, be daring!
Are you curious about this "raw food lifestyle" you keep hearing about?! Come to a local Raw Food Meetup to have fun, share raw food meals, and discuss diet and health issues. We'll have speakers, see live food prep demos and learn a lot. Anyone interested in the raw/live food diet and lifestyle is welcome! Our purpose is to provide support, share knowledge and eat things that make us feel great. It doesn't matter if you are 100% raw vegan or just want to learn more, all are welcome!
