Monthly Potluck Meeting

What: Monthly potluck meeting

Theme:  Desserts

Time: 2:00-4:00pm

45-minute yoga session will be facilitated by Michael and Raji Tress, followed by a discussion on the harmful effects of baking powder and baking soda. 

    Bring a mat for yoga and a raw, organic dessert to share.  Please bring a recipe or written ingredients.  Most of us know that living greens are an optimal staple of health, but who doesn't like sweets or desserts once in a while?  Our speakers today will talk about some of the harmful ingredients that go into cooked desserts, namely, baking powder and baking soda.  We will gather together and share some healthy alternatives.

    I enjoyed the meeting and the people. The yoga/meditation portion was much appreciated and needed! The raw desserts were great, also. I look forward to attending more meetups with the Raw/Living Foodists. I don't feel like lasting relationships were made at this meeting but it is was, of course my very first meeting.

    Hi all! Loved the yoga and meeting everyone today (so many yummy desserts, too). :-)

    There is a GF dough enhancer for anyone who is also candida free and it doesn't contain sodium phosphate or soda bicarbonate. It's called "Authentic Foods Dough Enhancer" and contains ginger, asorbic acid, and lethicin. Just thought I'd mention it. :-)

    I'm not sure I can attend but have a recipe to share:

    Easy All-Natural Fudge

    2 c almond butter
    1/4 c raw organic cocoa powder
    1/2 c + 2 tbps raw organic honey
    1 heaping tpsp coconut oil, melted (optional)
    2 tsps almond extract (or other extract)
    1 tsp coarse sea salt

    Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Spoon mixture into a pan and flatten. Place in the freezer for about an hour; take out and cut into bite-size squares. Keep covered and store in freezer.

    Yes! Children are welcome. We don't have a sign up list for potluck items, but it is suggested that you bring a serving that is enough for 6-8 people, with raw and preferably organic ingredients. A recipe or list of ingredients is highly recommended so that we can all get new ideas. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but to cut down on paper products, we try to being our own dishware. Thank you.
