Just a couple of quick notes:
I've realized that my previous rule about 3 no shows will not achieve the effect I want, which is to allow spots to be opened up to new people who actually want to attend. Therefore, the rule is changing: From now on, if you RSVP yes 3 times within a calendar year, and then either don't show or change your RSVP to no within a week of the meeting without notification/a valid excuse, you will be blocked from attending for 6 months. Again, last minute things happen, and I understand this, which is why I ask for notification, but it cannot happen regularly without affecting the whole group. I really hope this allows people who actively want to participate to be able to do so.
Also, I've had a few people question why we have the suggested donations at meetings now, as they thought the Wine Bar sponsored us. The Wine Bar does sponsor us for $6/month, but the Meet Up fee is $12/month. Up until now, I have been paying the remaining $6/month, but I can no longer afford to do so. Therefore, I'm asking for $.50/person/meeting, if and only if you can afford it. The jar will be at every meeting, but I'm not tracking who gives what. All I'm tracking is how much I take in per meeting. If you want to donate a dollar one time and none the next, that is up to you. As I'm not tracking who gives what, there is absolutely no penalty for not paying; it is entirely at your own discretion.
Lastly, I have had a few different people e-mail me about wanting to start your own group. I would rather not have any other meetings than my own under this heading. Please feel free to start your own group on Meet Up (obviously), but Read Between the Wines: West Side will remain as is, with its meetings being held at the Rocky River Wine Bar on the third Monday of every month. I'm sorry for any inconvenience that causes.
