All Read One Author - Isaac Asimov

This is a change in date.  Please check your RSVP and see if your response is still valid for the new date.  Thanks, all!!

We all read any work by Isaac Asimov and review the works along with that author's life. Previously, we have done Kurt Vonnegut and Neil Gaiman.

If you want to read a biography of Asimov instead of one of his books, that's great!  Be creative!

Do we have enough people for the book group on Sunday? If it is going to be canceled, please let us know on Saturday. I won't have access to email on Sunday. Thanks.

Marilyn, you can see on the event page that 12 people are due to attend and Margaret is sitting in for me as lead this one time. Enjoy!

    I'll be there!

MargAret I did tell you but forgot to tell group I am not coming.

I'm sorry I can't be there. I read the anthology "Nine Tomorrows," published in 1959 when Asimov only had over thirty books published.

Sigh...my stepmother's siblings will be in town, and I will have to go see them. Quite, quite disappointing, as I've only been to one of our meet ups, and I'm EMINENTLY prepared for this one!!!

    • Betsy

You'll be missed, Erik!!! Hope to see you in July! Come even if you haven't read anything. Always fun stuff to listen to and talk about!

I may have shown up if I hadn't noticed that the comment "cancelling" the meetup had occurred two hours earlier on the day the meetup was scheduled.

    • Betsy

No, Erik, the cancellation was sent out to everyone who had RSVP'd for this Sunday meetup on Saturday.

      Ah, I never formally RSVPed.

Yikes! I've been away from the computer, and just found myself wandering around Panera as if I was in an Asimov novel : ) See you next month!

    April 13, 2014

    • Betsy

Oh man, you really need to get your computer settings changed so you get all of the notices!!! See you soon!!

      April 13, 2014

  • Susan

Sorry Margaret! But for getting on the computer by chance yesterday I would have been wandering with you!

Btw, in the future, if the weather is nice, could we sit outside? And I bring a small animal?

Hi guys, I'm afraid we're going to cancel tomorrow's meetup. I've talked to at least 5 members who, like me, have had a busy month and haven't been able to read an Asimov book for this time. I'll move this event to our next open month and send my apologies to those of you who have made the time to read and be prepared!!! See you in May!!

If you're talking about the movie adaptation, it's absolutely terrible.

      April 12, 2014

  • Susan

Sorry we are canceling! Miss everyone...but am only half way through Caves of Steel, and just started two days ago, so I understand...wondering if there are any movies made from Asimov books...

Hi friends: Will miss you tomorrow, but I'm SO not prepared, and am just as happy we're cancelling. See you next month - if not before, at an upcounty dinner!

I was disappointed to find very few Asimov books at the new G-burg library yesterday. I did pick up one, and it looks like the library system has lots of his classics available for download (if that's your thing...)

    1 · March 20, 2014

    • Anne

I haven't been to the new G'burg library yet, even tho I live just down the street. I hope they haven't gone digital for most classics. I use my Kindle a lot but sometimes I want a bound book.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
