The number for additional information is[masked] and the location address is:

    11420 Old Georgetown Road

    Have agreat day all.

If you haven't already looked it up, here is the imdb for Slaughterhouse Five. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069280/ I only recognize 2 or 3 names of some bit actors...I don't remember if it was a popular movie or not! But I was pretty young at the time anyway. I was reading that Billy Pilgrim spends time in Ilium, NY for some of his time travel and I have to make a correction to my review of Player Piano. It also took place in Ilium, but the notes I read on my book said it was patterned after Pittsburgh.

I still feel like I need to find the movie online and watch it!!

Sorry to miss the group, once again... My car died, so I planned to take the bus. Started to take the bus, but my back hurt too much (still getting steroid shots every 2 weeks), so I turned round and came home. :( I hope to make it again sometime soon!

Thanks to Irene, Kate, Mary and Tod for coming out today. I'm going out on a limb here and saying that today's discussion was my favorite so far!! The idea of all reading different books by one author was a total hit! We're going to do it again in the Fall, so be thinking of some good suggestions; make sure it is an author who has a large enough listing of books from which to choose. Again, great group today, nice to meet new member, Tod, and hope to see everyone in May!! And watch your email for the June genre poll soon!

While I am sorry to miss the conversation about Vonnegut (please post notes!) I am excited about the short story topic, it has caused me lots fo thought.

I chose a recent compilation of his letters...hope it is not cheating...covering nearly a 60 year period of his life and starting with letter home after his release from a German POW camp. I could not resist and felt the span would allow me a good perspective on his works of different periods.

Great idea, Irene! If anyone is interested or hasn't chosen a book yet, And So It Goes, by Charles Shields is the only authorized biography of Vonnegut. I met this author in Baltimore and have stayed in touch with him since then. The lecture was fascinating and I'm sure the book is, too!

Just a note for folks who were not at our last meetup to hear the discussion. You can read anything you want by Vonnegut. If more than one person reads the same book, we'll just get a couple of opinions.
If you plan on attending and haven't done so, please RSVP! Thanks!

I would like to suggest that we all read a work by Vonnegut. I've only read one or two and have always wanted to read more. Last year I got to meet and became friends with Charles Shields, who was the only person Vonnegut would allow to write his biography. Shields was working with him on the finishing touches of the book when Vonnegut died.
