I WAS JUST INFORMED THAT BARZOLA IS CLOSING AT 6PM TONIGHT TO REPAIR A GAS LINE. I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.
IF YOU WANT TO JOIN US FOR AN INFORMAL ECUADORIAN DINNER, PLEASE MEET US IN FRONT OF BARZOLA. WE WILL HEAD TO LA PUNTILLA, ONE BLOCK AWAY.
Barzola has been serving Ecuadorian coastal cuisine in Jackson Heights for over 25 years. Unlike most Ecuadorian restaurants in NYC that specialize in the meat and potatoes of the mountainous regions, Barzola emphasizes seafood, green plantains and peanut sauce.
Join us for a taste of this often overlooked, but intriguing, South American cuisine.
The proposed menu:
Bolon: Mashed green plantains
Ayacas: Sweet cornmeal cake with chicken wrapped in banana leaf
Humitas: Fresh corn cake wrapped in corn leaf
Seco de chivo: Goat stew
Guatita: Tripe with potato in peanut sauce
Bollo de pescado: Grated green plantain with fish and peanut sauce wrapped in banana leaf
Cazuela marinera: Seafood casserole
Ceviche pescado curtido: Fish ceviche, Ecuadorian-style
The final bill, including tax and tip, for the meal will be divided equally among the diners. You will be responsible for the cost of any drinks and individual desserts that you order. The estimated cost per diner is $20-30. Cash only. Please bring small bills.
Please only RSVP “Yes” if you will attend. If your plans change, please update your RSVP.
