Reconciling Journey is a place of affirming faith-based fellowship with those identified as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allies. Each of us fall somewhere along a continuum between reconciling our faith identity with our glbta status and being fully out and at home. What we share is a desire to build supportive community while providing a safe place for inquiry, growth, and discovery of our life's calling.
Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for both people seeking fellowship and those still struggling to reconcile their faith with who they are as a GLBT identified person or ally.
We are a supportive Christian group, but welcome ANYONE to our online and/or in person group that would like to learn more and get support from others in their own "reconciling journey". We also want to provide a safe place for those who do not currently consider themselves Christians or who have previously rejected Christianity and the church to find hope, faith re-exploration, reconciliation, healing, and love.
Our only requirement to be part of this group is that you are to be respectful to others in this group at all times. We are also a confidential group and our members can be assured of anonymity if they desire as we often get pastors, church workers, and others who are not out and not comfortable with anyone knowing they are part of this group.
Anything that is said here needs to stay within this group to protect our members and is not to be shared with anyone outside of the group. Anyone violating this policy or who does not treat our members in a respectful manner will be asked to leave the group. If there is ever a problem with anything that happens in our online or in person groups please contact Ronda or Stacy as soon as possible so we can remedy the situation.
We originally started in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, IL with a small group of individuals that met for fellowship and bible study. We quickly grew into a large group many of whom traveled 1+ hours just to attend the group. We became a very supportive "family" and met monthly for fellowship, bible study, and support. We also had movie nights where we could watch and then discuss GLBT, and religious themed documentaries and movies.
Reconciling Journey Small Groups gather together in person for personal and biblical exploration, intimate discussion and to affirm and support each other as we each make our Reconciling Journeys through life. GLBTQ persons and allies of all faiths are welcome as well as thosewishing to explore the love that God has for you just as you are.
