Friendly Chat (show up when you can)

This is our monthly meeting at which you can share your stories and hear stories from others who are just like you.

We don't allow preaching. This is about your personal journey and how you're living it.

We'll talk about mostly anything that is of a concern for you. We have a few basic topics, but we're not limited to the following:

  • How has religion hurt you?
  • How has religion hurt someone you love or is close to you?
  • How has your life improved since letting go of religion?

We encourage you to support the business at which we are meeting by purchasing something, but that's not required.

We hope to see you there!

I can only go if someone near me can give me a ride. I'm in Mesa, on E Main, between Greenfield and Higley. I have medical energy issues, so I can't do bus to light rail. Bummer
I'm not contagious and not in pain, so this is the "best" disability if you have to choose one. ;-)

6 p.m. is o.k. if this event is on Saturday May 4; it's just really tough for me to get in and out of downtown PHX on weekday nights due to the rush hour traffic and my distance from this location. I'm the one who should be more flexible but I really don't like driving around this town during rush hour, which of course only occurs Mon. - Fri. excluding holidays.

I will work with the group on locale, it is worth it to me just to be able to have the opportunity to listen in and share with others who have under gone a similiar experience and learn how they have progressed and where they are currently. Although I work Saturdays, Sundays would work better, but I remain open.

How about Monday evenings @ 6P, would those work better?

I can do the OSF, so I'm still able to attend this month - but I am with Bob in that I find the Fair Trade to be a lot easier. So just my two cents.

I would prefer to meet at the Fair Trade earlier in the day. Saturday or Sunday afternoons work best for me. I realize everyone has their preferences, so flexibility is a virtue

If I were a grandfather, I would encourage my children to raise their children in an atmosphere of intellectual openness to various philosophical perspectives, whether theistic or atheistic, and I would emphasize to them that they should grant their children the freedom to decide for themselves what they are comfortable believing about ultimate reality. Religion, in and of itself, is not some monstrous evil that should be banned from human consciousness. Regardless of what my grandchildren might decide to believe about ultimate reality, I would hope that I could continue to accept them and love them unconditionally.

Thank you! I was not aware such groups existed and although I gave a brief intro, it would mean a lot to just show up and be able to discuss and share with like minded individuals what an entire life devoted to religious belief and than leaving it behind is like. Where do we go from here? What do we teach our grandchildren? So much is new now with the removal of the rose colored glasses...

it was good meeting Chris and Kit tonight. :) I appreciated the honest conversation, and it will be good to meet again in may... I'm also glad to see it at Fair Trade, as I'll always vote for coffee shops for $$ sake. :)
