I'd like to start a thread to other's de-conversion stories. I've found a few and I'll post them, but I'd like to invite everyone to post stories that they've found as well.

Evid3nc3 has posted on his YouTube channel his moving de-conversion story from a very personal and honest standpoint.

Here's a link to an interesting and insightful deconversion story, autobiographical in nature, by Edmund D. Cohen, the author of The Mind of the Bible Believer. http://www.skeptictan...

Well, it's been a while, so I'll add more videos!

Here is PrplFox's deconversion story. He's a former Christian camp counselor so struggled with the de-conversion process and the guilt of continuing to volunteer at a Christian summer camp. It's a deeply touching story of his emotional and logical struggles with religious cognitive dissonance.

"[the professor] was probably a brilliant man who could have changed my life. But, instead, I choose the way of years of hurt finding [the truth about religion] by myself."

Please enjoy!

Diane Fadden shares her story from Presbyterianism to atheism. Like prplfox, she also volunteered at a Christian camp and a Sunday school teacher.

Diane explains how she tried to be a good daughter for her mother by trying to become a better Christian. She struggled with cognitive dissonance, key questions such as the Problem of Evil http://rationalwiki.o..., and the evil, sexism, racism, and inaccuracies in the Bible.

Once again, reading the Bible can be credited with making an atheist.

A former creationist explains the concept of deep time as he came to understand the vast time-scales of evolution. Excellent work by a new YouTuber.

Who wrote the bible? Robert Beckford, a Christian theologian, has his faith shaken somewhat while researching the origins of the Bible. Every answer leads him to more questions. He covers the multiple authors of the books attributed to Moses, the politics of the selection of the canon, the sexism of the canon, and the translations including the King James.

He remains a believer, but not no longer takes the Bible as literal as he once did. He admits that the journey has caused him to doubt his faith and suggests that viewers continue to ask questions about their faith.

This isn't really a deconversion story, but it's related to how to de-convert.

"When you doubt and ask, it gets a little harder to believe"

Richard Feynman was a great scientist and is responsible for pioneering the field of Quantum Mechanics and Physics. He was also a non-believer.

"I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers with might be wrong. I have approximate answers, and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things-- but I'm not absolutely sure of anything...but I don't have to know an answer. I'm not frightened by not knowing things."

Watch part 1 of the 4 part Feynmann series in which he discusses doubt and how science and religion are related.
