Do you still frequent services at your church, synagogue, temple, or mosque?

No. On rare occasion, I've returned to get some perspective on how different I've become--and I certainly receive it!

Have you come out as a non-believer to your friends or family?

Yes. My close family has come leaps and bounds of their own.

Do you know any other non-believers personally?

Quite a few. After at last coming to terms with my own history, I've begun writing my Stanford doctoral dissertation in anthropology about people like us, ex-Christians. I'll only be gathering observations for that if I specifically ask you, however--or if you'd like to tell your story, please feel welcome to approach me.

I grew up Southern Baptist and got regularly beaten up at my Christian school for critiquing the anti-evolutionism. As a teenager, I converted to Mormonism because it was more liberal than what I was raised as. Leaving was long and arduous.
