I was raised a Southern Baptist at Richland Baptist Church. I was the Baptist associational youth president while a senior at Richland High School. My first summer after my freshman year of college I was a summer missionary in Walla Walla. Since then, I've taught Sunday School to middle schoolers and 3-yr-olds. I've sung in church choirs much of my life. About 12 years ago, I began reading my bible through again, and really began paying attention to what it was saying. That's all I needed to start my journey into a new life as an atheist.
I would like to meet people who may have had similar experiences to mine. I want to find a group that promotes the positive aspects of the non-religious life while at the same time allows some openess about dealing with much of the toxic legacy of a religious up-bringing.
Born and raised in the Tri-Cities. Raised a Southern Baptist at Richland Baptist Church. Have now been an atheist for about 12 years.
Hey, RR gang! Thanks for listening to me this evening and for all the support you showed me! It's great to be back among the living again!
