Kayak "OR" Float the Snoqualmie

You will need a Discovery Pass to park at Plum Boat Launch unless you park on the street.  I parked on the street this past Sunday.  It was no big deal, just[masked] ft further to the water. You DO NOT need a discovery pass to park at the Fall City Community Park.  Once we launch from the boat launch, we will float or kayak back to the park.  When we reach the park, we will pack up and some of us will head back to the boat launch to retrieve the vehicles.  Please bring food and drink to share with others.  Don't forget the sunblock, hats, water shoes or sandals.  I did this trip yesterday and had the time of my life.  We were able to conduct a mini rescue mission for 5 rafters that were stranded half way through their float trip with 3 torn rafts.  Please do not be so casual as to bring a pool raft.  The river is not that forgiving.

**A requirement to wear life jackets on several of King County's major rivers was passed by the Metropolitan King County Council 5-4 on Monday. Violators could get a warning the first time, but an $86 fine after.

***As far as this event system goes, participation is voluntary and you attend at your own risk, and that Organizers are indemnified.

That's the particulars.  The reality is that we're going to have a great time.  If you want to, we can meetup for dinner or drinks afterwards in town.  See you on Saturday!

Sorry that the Eskimo Roll wouldn't upload. Apparently they don't upload videos - but again it was awesome.

Work always seems to get in the way of some of the best play time. Next time then.

Hi Peeps...Tried to send everyone a meetup email, but that was a "crash and burn". I will be driving a charcoal gray Subaru Legacy and will have a make shift Meetup sign. The clouds will burn off by early afternoon and lend way to perfect weather. If you have any trouble finding us, running late etc., feel free to call or text me @[masked]-5559. Looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying another day on the water.

I have had canoes and recreational kayaks, but just bought a sea kayak and want to try it out. I hope to be there!

This sounds like a pretty fun trip, I'm going to try and manage this. I was planning an early morning hike with my dog, but I think I'll be able to drop her off at home and still make this. I'll make sure to keep my rsvp updated.

Hi there. I do not own a kayak and since I have never been to this place, I have to ask Will it be possible to rent one on the spot?

There's no place to rent a kayak that I know of. This is a combo trip. Some people might have kayaks, or inner tubes or an inflatable raft. Also, does anyone have a 2 seater kayak? If so, you might be able to double up with someone. But anything that is durable enough to float the river will be fine. I have an extra inner tube, if you'd like to use that.

I am totally unfamiliar with the landscape here - would my 17' kayak be appropriate for this run?

Sounds like you have a nice sea kayak, but I don't see why you couldn't use it on the Snoqualmie. I saw a 16-17' power boat out there last weekend. I'm using a sturdy 10' inflatable kayak. The river is mild enough this time of year, there are many more people in inner tubes than kayaks. But, if you think it's overkill, you can pick up a river tube at Big 5 or Sports Authority for 15-20 bucks. This is truly a relaxing easy float down the river.

I just moved the marker of where we'll meet at 12pm. Google had it in the wrong place. The parking lot is on the corner of hwy 203 and Neal Rd SE. Enter from Neal Road. It is free parking and no Discovery Pass required to park here. You will only need the Discovery Pass if you use the parking lot at the boat launch.

How hard is this kayaking trip? I have officially kayaked now 4 times in my life and know all the basics but have not yet mastered wet re-entry or eskimo rolls, etc.

This trip is probably one of the easiest trips. This is a very relaxing float down the river. The water picks up speed at several points, but nothing to write home about.
