Whether on the Sound or the Lakes, my recreational limit seems to be about three hours with 6 miles being the downturn for value added. I may try one or two of the 'stopping to eat lunch' type outings this year. I approach kayaking the same as a leisure bicycling outing; my style is to do that activity and thoroughly enjoy it without adding other activities to it. Once on the bicycle, in the kayak, I'm on/in it for the entire time. Snack bars, drinking water, point and shoot camera, and safety equipment are good enough for me. Last year I did one or two of these outings a weekend on the Sound or larger lakes as well as a few evenings a week water-strolling along on Martha Lake. I look forward to the meetup events as well as anyone who wants to join me on the type of leisure outings that I described above. p.s. I also dabble with putting up sails on a couple of my kayaks and have a couple Hobie Mirage Drive 'kayaks'. Always willing to loan.

Last year, there were several great outings out of Renton led by Christine. I hope she is still with the group. I don't have a wet or dry suit and, frankly, don't want to kayak in 40 degrees without them! I won't be on the water until it warms up. We had some nice turnouts down there because people could rent or bring their own.
